Answers to frequently asked questions
Validity and data protection
Genetic testing is not covered by law in many countries and so no regulations ensure sufficient quality standards for the analysis or genetic counseling. This lack of regulation causes great differences in the quality of genetic testing and enables some suppliers to offer testing that is scientifically invalid or not performed following strict quality assurance guidelines. The genetic laboratories of DNA Plus are situated in Germany and Austria, two countries that have some of the strictest genetic-testing laws worldwide. So while other suppliers choose their own rules of conduct, DNA Plus follows government regulated standards in quality and content of genetic testing and counseling. This of course increases the quality and validity of DNA Plus genetic tests and prevention programs considerably.
Especially when dealing with personal genetic data, data protection is one of the highest priorities. This is why we have integrated various security features into our processes to ensure that your personal information is safe. Your personal details are, for example, stored separately from your analysis results and only the fingerprint of registered laboratory staff can access the complete results. To ensure data protection through your online account we have created a secure server access system similar to online banking. When you try to log on to your account, a secure code is sent to your mobile phone. This code is valid only once and for no longer than 30 minutes. Additionally, all documents accessible through your account have your personal details censored.
